Suvi West

”AIFF doesn’t only support the filmmakers but also works for the better community and people.”
Suvi West is a Finnish Sámi director and screenwriter. West is especially known for the TV series Märät säpikkät / Njuoska bittut. In addition to making films, she was the head of the Film Center for Indigenous Peoples from 2009 to 2011.
With AIFF’s support and help West has been able to launch her newest documentary film Eatnameamet – Hiljainen taistelumme (Eatnameamet – our silent fight), screened in 2021. The documentary won the Church Media Foundation award and the audience award at the Tampere Film Festival.
Nyla Innuksuk

AIFF funded the post-production of Nyla’s feature film Slash / Back, which premiered in 2022.
Nyla Innuksuk is an Inuk artist who makes films, media art, and VR content. Nyla was born in Igloolik, Nunavut, and grew up in Iqaluit. Her short film Kajutaijuq premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was featured in TIFF’s 2014 Canada’s Top Ten Festival.
Pipaluk K. Jørgensen

AIFF has supported Pipaluk’s second feature film, This Road of Mine, with a development grant. The anticipated release of the film is in 2023.
Pipaluk K. Jørgensen has built her company, Karitas Production, to be one of the first companies in Greenland to produce international and local productions. In 2019 she opened her first global film company UnoFilm and was a partner in the Icelandic-Greenlandic company Polarama. She is currently working as a writer for a Hollywood TV series.
Kelvin Redvers

AIFF has funded the development of Redvers’ first feature film Cold Road, which will be released in 2023.
Kelvin Redvers is Dene from the Deninu Kųę́ First Nation and grew up in Hay River, Northwest Territories. He majored in film production at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he gained proficiency in writing and directing his first short films. Redvers has created the concept for the documentary series High Arctic Haulers while also acting as a consulting producer and director on the show.
Marc Fussing

AIFF has funded the pre-production of Fussing’s short film Imajuik, that is part of AIFF’s horror short film anthology Arctic Chills.
At 23 years old, Marc Fussing-Rosbach has already directed an award-winning feature film. His fantasy feature, Akornatsinnittut – Tarratta Nunaanni (Among Us – In The Land of Our Shadows), won the award for promising young filmmaker at the Nuuk International Film Festival in 2018 and went on to screenings in Canada, the U.S., Australia and various countries in Europe.
Marc’s father introduced him to movies and taught him how to edit photos, setting him on the path to filmmaking. Marc is self-taught. He does his own filming and works with various software to edit scenes and compose soundtracks. His visual effects work is in demand by other Greenlandic directors.
Elin Marakatt

AIFF has funded the pre-production of Marakatt’s short film, Unborn Biru, which was nominated for Best Short Film at the Sundance Film Festival 2023.
Unborn Biru is part of AIFF’s horror short film anthology, Arctic Chills, which is one of AIFF’s first international projects. As part of Arctic Chills, AIFF provided workshops and mentoring for filmmakers. Elin received support for screenwriting Unborn Biru.
